Today, I will review the Garnier Youthful Radiance Day Cream. I have used Garnier products in the past and have had mixed results. Price-wise they’re not too bad and their range covers everything from moisturising creams to shampoos.
What attracted me specifically to the Garnier Youthful Radiance Day Cream amongst the other products was surprisingly, the light green colour of the tub (there is also the Garnier Youthful Night Cream as well). It gave the impression of having a refreshing organic feel to it. From a marketing point of view I think it’s very clever. Also, I was looking for something that is light in texture, especially during the summer heat as my T zone area tends to get oily. Let’s have a look at the product in more detail.
What the product claims to do:
It says it is a lightweight moisturising cream that helps make the skin look radiant. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and provides hydration to skin. Some of the ingredients included are grape anti-oxidants and caffeine. Grape anti-oxidants contain anti ageing properties while caffeine stimulates the skin, thus promotes a healthy look.
- 1st signs of ageing innovation
- Proven effectiveness
- Smoothes lines + boosts radiance
- Hydrates for 24 hours
- Caffeine + grape anti-oxidants
- Dermatologically tested
The product comes in a 50ml tub. It is suitable for those with normal and combination skin. The retail price is around £5.99 at the time of writing this review.
I have used the cream twice a day for at least a month now. It has a very pleasant ‘organic’ smell to it which I adore. Like it mentions on the product description, it is a very light-based moisturiser and the colour is creamy-white. Applying it on the face is very effortless and it absorbs very well in to the skin.
Some of the other Garnier moisturisers that I’ve used in the past, they too were quite light in texture. I tend to prefer this opposed to the more thicker based creams.
Did it make my skin look radiant? If I be honest, it did bring about a slight glow. However, it didn’t brighten it in the way I had hoped. Therefore, I don’t think it’s enough to promote this product as a ‘radiance cream’. In terms of reducing fine lines… It didn’t do any miracles I’m afraid. I was cautiously optimistic when buying the cream in the hope it may soften my laughter lines. But I was disappointed. I feel the claim by Garnier is a little exaggerated! It is not an anti ageing cream.
On the positive side, I was really impressed with the matte finish it gave to my skin. It gave that cooling polished look. If you have combination skin like me then this cream is ideal. It really sits well and glides through the skin when applying. It didn’t make my skin greasy or oily even around the T zone area. Also, it didn’t dry out my skin like some creams in the past. So full marks there.
I felt it kept my skin hydrated throughout the day. Even late in the evening my skin looked fresh which pleasantly surprised me. It also helped a little with evening out my complexion. The area around my mouth is a little darker compared to the rest of my face. The cream helped bring about a uniform tone.
In terms of price I think it is reasonable. It is a decent moisturiser for the money you pay. You only need to apply a small amount and it will last at least a few months. However, do bear in mind, the cream doesn’t contain spf. This means if you’re going to be out in the heat for long duration, make sure to apply protection.
